My journey into vintage audio began long before I ever picked up a screwdriver. Growing up, my world was soundtracked by the iconic sounds of Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry, Elvis and The Beatles.

That early obsession with clean guitar tone, the rhythm of the drums, progressive basslines that anchor the melody to the beat and of course rich vocal harmonies sparked a lifelong love affair with music.

By age nine, I was playing guitar, eventually spending my teenage and young adult years performing live in bands across the U.K.

Professional Roots

After qualifying as an electrician, a fortuitous opportunity arose in 1994 that would steer my career toward the industry that would become my life’s work. I joined a family friend installing, servicing, and maintaining CD jukeboxes and audio systems for the legendary Firkin pub chain across the UK. Balancing full-time technical routes with weekend gigs, I quickly developed a deep respect for both the artistry of sound and the mechanical reliability needed to keep a machine playing night after night.

Specialising in the Golden & Silver Ages

Since 2005, my professional focus has been exclusively dedicated to the repair, service, and full restoration of vintage vinyl jukeboxes. My primary expertise spans the two most celebrated eras of jukebox design:

The Golden Age (1930s–1940s): Famed for intricate wooden cabinetry, glowing plastics, the sound of warm vacuum-tube amplifiers, and 78RPM mechanisms typically playing up to 24 songs on 10” shellac records.

The Silver Age (1950s–1960s): Defined by futuristic "dripping chrome," wrap-around glass, high-capacity mechanisms playing up to 200 songs on 7” 45RPM vinyl records, and major breakthroughs in audio fidelity.

I’ve always been captivated by the fierce mid-century engineering wars between the "Big Four" manufacturers—AMI, Rock-Ola, Seeburg, and Wurlitzer as they were falling over each other to come up with the next greatest design.

Mastering milestones like the 1955 Seeburg V200—the world’s first 200-selection jukebox powered by its revolutionary Tormat memory unit, the Wurlitzer 2000 introduced 1956 and AMI’s H & I from 1957/8—has been the cornerstone of my work for over two decades.

With over 20 years of hands-on experience restoring these mechanical marvels, I launched Jukebox.Life to offer dedicated, specialist engineering directly to jukebox owners across Surrey and South East England.
